HP M880

I'm working on a MFPM880 and replacing the document feeder kit parts (C1P70A), and confirmed that there is now a loud grinding noise with the document feeder. I noticed that the paper feeder roller is not moving properly, tried using the old part, but still is having the noise with the new and old part. Upon further investigation, noticed that the issue stems from what the roller assembly connects to: a hexagon shaped plastic nut:

I have found that I could order the whole document feeder tray assembly online (CF367-67920), but I only need that one nut. Does HP sell that nut?

No they do not. When I approached them about that they offered to put me in touch with the manufacturer with a minimum order quantity of 1000 pieces. I toyed around with the idea of finding a thin metal sleeve to place over the nut section but have got around to it. I was able to scavenge a couple from other models using the same setup such as the M525.

I do have a M775 collecting dust in another building; do you know if that model uses the same/similar part?

I'd still like to get the part even though the resourceful people at this company did a mock hot staple repair like they do on car plastic panels...

...they did it with a paperclip and a lighter to MacGyver a temporary solution:

I guess one of the perks of working at a construction company? They definitely plow right through to some sort of solution one way or another.
