I've had this printer for several years but always able to print to it via automatic duplex printing. I recently upgraded to Windows 11 but now any time that I want to print duplexing, it requires me to MANUALLY feed the paper.  I've uninstalled and re-installed the latest driver and firmware but it still only gives me the ability to print via manual duplex printing.  WHY?!?!?!

the issue is that the driver installation did not detect that the printer is capable of duplex so did not activate it. On your computer go to control panel>devices and printers and then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the device settings tab on the next window that opens and scroll down till you find under installable options -duplex unit. Change it to installed and you should be good to go. If you did not install and HP driver there is a possibility that you will not have the option to turn on duplex and will need to get the proper driver from HP.

Welcome to the HP support communtiy.

I understand that you are not getting the auto-duplexing option to print, I am glad to assist you.

  • For the printer instance in question, bring up the Printer properties dialogue.
  • Select the Device settings tab.
  • Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.

Keep me posted.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
