I have a MFP 570 Laserjet Pro printer for which the color calibration fails. I have cleaned the printer, reset the printer, installed the latest firmware etc.

When printing the Error Report I get the following output (5 times repeated):

01120000

01140000

018e0000

5019a000

2100a000

00080000

00a10004

5100a000

ASSERT FAILED

Task: EI ENTITY

View: leslevm12:/local/sandbox/romreleases/epic2.0.rom.16@@44

==> what does this mean?

In some rare cases the printer does manage to calibrate correctly. When printing  a diagnosis page I get a tabel with numbers:

- Printing a diagnose page when the printer is *not* correctly color calibrated, all numbers in the upper 16 rows are zero.

- Printing a diagnose page when the printer is correctly color calibrated, all numbers in the upper 16 rows seem to have a value.

I think it is related to the problem, but have insufficient data to pinpoint it. The repair manual and troubleshoot manual do not seem to have the solution.

Can anybody help me with this?

I resetted the printers NVRAM, and the ASSERT FAILED is now cleared from the error report.

In the logging I now find the yellow is not detected in the CPR-pattern during calibration, which is why the calibration fails I guess.

Solution would be to replace the toner, and if this does not resolve the problem replace the density sensor.

When you cleaned the printer did you carefully clean the actual sensors? Are you using OEM toner or 3rd party?

I carefully cleaned the ITB, made sure there was no residual toner in the ITB cleaner. The toner collection box was OK.

I also cleaned the RD sensor which I think is used during the calibration process (There is a plastic cover that moves left and right to uncover the actual sensors. The sensor are protected by a transparent piece of plastic. I cleaned the top of the transparent plastic.)

Didn’t clean any other sensor as they are a bit harder to get to them.

I’m using genuine HP Toner.
