HP Laser MFP 135a
Microsoft Windows 11

It is really getting annoying. It started a few months ago still on Windows 10 and is still happening on Windows 11. After some time the printer is no longer working, no printing or scanning and I only get a quite general error message that something went wrong and I should check connections.

So far the only thing that helped is disconnecting and switching of the printer, restart the PC, uninstalling all MFP software and drivers, remove the printer from the Windows settings for printers and scanners and then finally install the drivers and software again.

Now it works again a few days before something triggers the error again and I have to go through the whole process again and mostly just to print a few pages or scan some documents.

Can I do something to not go through the whole process over and over again?

Hi @Saiberion,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Laser MFP 135a Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try running print and scan doctor on your PC.
