HELP! I replaced my MFP M183FW Toner replacement with 215A (not OEM) and now its saying supply problem. I used the previous chips and checked all the connections and ensured this toner is compatible. How do I get it to recognize the new toner?

Hi @kylejackson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

  1. Press the Power button to turn the product off and disconnect the power cable.
  2. Check and remove any packing material/orange tape from the toner cartridge, and from inside the printer.
  3. Clean the toner cartridge contact (metal pins) which is mounted inside the printer and check for any obstacles.
  4. Check & clean the vertical sensor flag. Make sure flag toggles freely.
  5. Check whether or not the cartridge chip (e-label) is in close touch with metal points. If not, press the cartridge a little to see if the issue disappears.
  6. Install the toner cartridge back and make sure it clicks in place.
  7. For the Products without the display
Check in the Tool Box of the printer and identify the part number. If no toner level – Replace the Toner.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
