When printing the printer makes a rubbing noise. Almost like the rollers need lubrication.  There are no paper jams, misfeeds, error messages. Used can air to blow out any particles. Toners are original HP cartridge's and have been replaced multiple times. Ran the service: cleaning page.  Drivers are good.  We have two machines making this same loud noise.  Have done many internet searches for insight.   Found a similar question from N11/22/2022, support indicated on 11/27/2022 it could be a hardware issue but the solution would be issued in a private message, it wasn't shareable in a public post. The recommendation was that I start a new post.

Hi @Brandi_K ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already taken several troubleshooting steps, but the loud rubbing noise persisting in both machines suggests a persistent issue.

Here are some additional steps and considerations you can try:

  • Inspect for Foreign Objects: Even though there are no paper jams, check thoroughly for any small foreign objects or debris that might be causing the noise. Use a flashlight to look into the printer's paper path and around the rollers.
  • Check Paper Quality: Ensure that the paper being used meets the specifications recommended for your printer. Low-quality or improperly stored paper can sometimes cause unusual noises.
  • Verify Paper Alignment: Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are snug against the paper stack. Improper alignment can sometimes cause paper to feed unevenly, resulting in noise.
  • Reset the Printer: Power off the printer completely, unplug it from the power source, and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and power it on. This can sometimes resolve minor mechanical issues.
  • Inspect Toner Cartridges: Ensure that the toner cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Sometimes loose toner cartridges can cause mechanical noise.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
