Hi @PATRICIA3211,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP printer states it is not connected to the internet, but it actually is, it can be frustrating. Let’s troubleshoot step by step.
Check Printer and Network Status
- Ensure your printer is connected to the correct WiFi network.
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report or Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel. This report will show the connection status and any issues.
- Look for a "Connected" status and confirm that the printer's IP address matches your network range.
Restart Devices
- Power off your printer, router, and computer or device.
- Turn on the router first and wait for it to fully boot up.
- Turn on the printer and reconnect to WiFi if necessary.
- Turn on your computer or device and attempt to print again.
Re-establish Printer Connection
- Reconnect the printer to WiFi:
- Open the printer's control panel.
- Go to Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
- Choose Set up WiFi or Wireless Setup Wizard and connect to your network.
- For printers with a WiFi Direct option, temporarily use it to print if needed.
Check HP Smart App or Printer Software
- Open the HP Smart app or your printer management software.
- Confirm the printer is added and its status shows as Online.
- If not, remove the printer and re-add it:
- Click on the "+" to add a printer.
- Select the correct printer from the list.
Verify Printer Driver and Firmware
- Make sure your printer driver is up to date.
- Go to HP Support and download the latest driver for your printer.
- Update the printer’s firmware through the HP Smart app or printer settings.

Disable Advanced Router Features
- Some router settings like band steering, firewalls, or IPV6 can cause connection issues.
- Log into your router settings and temporarily disable these features, then test the connection.
Test Printer IP Address
- Enter the printer's IP address (from the Network Configuration Page) into your web browser.
- If the printer's embedded web server (EWS) opens, the printer is connected to your network.
- If the EWS doesn't open, there might be a network communication issue.
Reset Network Settings
- On the printer, go to Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Use USB as a Temporary Measure
- If you urgently need to print, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
