HP OfficeJet Pro 6978
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I'm unable to print wirelessly on my home network.  The HPOffice Jet Pro 6978 recognizes and is configured to the wireless network (the wireless logo is lit solid blue) and my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) is linked to the wireless network, but they aren't connecting with each other.

I have downloaded, installed, cleared and repeated the installation process from the 123.hp.com/setup website.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I'll check back regularly today to provided any requested information.

Thanks!

Bruce

Thanks for the continued guidance.

I've been able to access the router device configuration online.

As one of the sub-menus to LAN, called "Wireless Interfaces," I come across this.  It sounds like I should disable HomePNA.

What aout the output jack drop-down?  The other option is RJ-11.

Then what should I do?  Try to connect my other MacBooks?  Or should I unplug and "reboot" the router first?

Thanks!  Bruce

What router are you using?  Have you restarted it?

Thanks for your reply.  Since my OP, I've unplugged and restarted my router and been able to get one (1) of our Mac online with the printer and am able to print out as typical.

However, when I attempt to connect another of our Mac laptops (same specs) to the printer, NONE of them work. This happen whether I try to connect the second Mac individually, or click on the first to create a "shared" network.

It's a bit perplexing to me. When I delete the printers from each computer's system, and reboot the router, I can re-establish the printer connection (and it works fine) with the initial computer.

Of course, I'd like all of our lapops to be able to access the printer wirelessly, and not just one.  Any further suggestions are greatly appreciated!

This is what I can determine:

Pace 5268AC integrated 4x4 5 GHz 802.11ac

Main interfaces

• Bonded ADSL2+/VDSL2
• Gigabit Ethernet WAN
• HomePNA 3.1 coax port
• 4 x Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports
• 5 GHz 802.11ac 4x4 MIMO Wi-Fi • 2.4 GHz 802.11n 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi • 2 x FXS (VoIP) Lines

• USB Host Port

OK, bingo.  Thanks for that.

If you know how to get into the router settings, go to Settings > LAN and disable HomePNA.

If you don't know how to get into the router settings the instructions should be on the back or bottom of the router...or I can help.

I think I'll need an assist. Checked the back and the bottom - no guidance there on how to get to the settings. Thanks so much.

OK, no problem.  On the back there should be something like this:

The "go to" refers to a browser - type that into your browser.  You will need the Device Access Code to make the change.
