I have Mac (Ventura 13.4) and an HP Office Jet E710n-z and they no longer communicate. The only difference is, I am now on a different wifi network. I don't know if my Mac has had an update which may be interrupted functioning? I don't know. I have checked and can't find any drivers for this printer that I need to update. My printer is connected to my wi fi and so is my computer. I also have a USB cable for my printer but neither method is working. I have rebooted my computer and printer several times. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer several times. When I try to install the USB version I get an error saying "unable to communicate with this printer at this time." When I try to install the wifi version, and go to print, it gets stuck and won't actually print and strangely, two print jobs appear for just one job (I know that's weird). The first job says, "ready on server - waiting for job to complete" and the second job says, "ready to print" but they are both the same job. either way nothing happens and nothing prints. if I try to delete one of the jobs, both delete and the printer queue is now empty.

Hi @Larkin1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating when your printer and computer stop communicating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get your HP OfficeJet E710n-z printer working with your Mac again:
Check Network Connection:
- Make sure your Mac and printer are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Verify that your Wi-Fi network is stable and working properly.
Restart Your Router:
- Sometimes, a simple router reboot can resolve network communication issues. Unplug your router, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Wait for it to fully restart.
Printer Restart:
- Turn off your HP OfficeJet E710n-z printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a minute and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes help clear any printer-related issues.
USB Connection:
- Since you mentioned that you have a USB cable, try connecting the printer to your Mac using the USB cable. Ensure that the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the Mac.
Delete and Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove the printer from your Mac:
- Go to "Apple menu" > "System Preferences."
- Click on "Printers & Scanners."
- Select your HP OfficeJet E710n-z printer and click the "-" button to remove it.
- Reinstall the printer:
- Click the "+" button in the "Printers & Scanners" preferences.
- Your printer should appear in the list. Select it and click "Add."
Software Update:
- Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, software updates can include improvements and fixes for printer communication.
- Go to "Apple menu" > "System Preferences."
- Click on "Software Update" and follow the instructions to install any available updates.
Printer Software:
- Visit the HP website and download the latest driver and software for your HP OfficeJet E710n-z printer. Even if you couldn't find updates before, it's possible that newer drivers have been released.
- Install the downloaded software and follow the on-screen instructions.
Firewall and Security Software:
- Check your Mac's firewall and security software settings. Sometimes, they can block communication between your printer and computer.
Reset Printing System:
- As a last resort, you can reset your Mac's printing system. Be aware that this will remove all installed printers, so you'll need to add them back.
- Go to "Apple menu" > "System Preferences."
- Click on "Printers & Scanners."
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and choose "Reset printing system."
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the communication issue between your Mac and HP OfficeJet E710n-z printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
