Missing lines on black text HP4527

I have a HP 4527, which has served me well for a while. 

Just today tried to use it to print off a bunch of receipts and it started to misprint or not print or blurry print lines of black text. From cleaning and then deep cleaning the cartridges then cleaning page smears, then aligning the printer, the bad printing continues.

I have also read up on someone else similar issue, have taken out the cartridges and wiped them down. No success.

I have included a scan of what is happening when I print.

I would like to know whether I need to replace the cartridge, or whether there is some kind of hard reset option to clean the printer.

bought a new 302 black ink. seems to have fixed the problem.
