Missing or failed printhead msg. Officejet 8600

Out of the blue my Officejet Pro 8600 Plus displayed "printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed". I ordered a new printhead off the internet and get the same message with the new printhead.

I'd be happy to assist you with the error message. 

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

• With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
• Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
• Wait at least 60 seconds.
• Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
• Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
• Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Try a firmware update too: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

This error message started yesterday, and I have now spent a couple hours troubleshooting, reseating the printhead 4-5 times, mostly just unplugging power from the back.  But in light of these just-found instructions, the last time, we also unplugged power from the wall, waited the 60 seconds before plugging back in, first to wall then to printer.  No change.  Based on reading the previous text about the new printhead also not working, I am not inclined to go that route.  Already miffed because I just spent $90+ for new set of cartridges (always genuine HP) to have on hand and had to break it open just last week for cyan.  So don't want to waste more money.  ☹️   Still searching for more ideas.  Checked on firmware but uncertain which 8600 this is.
