Ive had the printer since Christmas and it will NOT print in color. I've changed the ink and done everything I possibly can think of.
When I use the HP printing it says: color was changed because of a conflict with another printer setting. There is NO printer setting I can find that I chose so I cannot print in color.
Can anyone help because I use this for business and need the color printing.
The ink cartrdige is new and genuine HP
Thanks

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with not being able to print in color. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you replace the ink cartridges and check again?
- Did this happen after a recent software or Windows update?
- Are you able to make copies in color directly from the printer?
- Does it print from a different device in color?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer by from this link: https://hp.care/2JMOpzI and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer”
- Then make 2 copies in color directly from the printer without any communication from the computer, to eliminate any cartridge or printer hardware related issues.
If it fails to copy correctly then perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://hp.care/2oXlwX4 (HP Printers - Fixing Print Quality Problems)
- Perform all the steps from step 1- step 14. This should do the trick for you.
If it still fails to print in color, then contact HP phone support to get the faulty cartridge replaced and this should work as long as the printer is not faulty. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
- Click on this link – https://hp.care/2moMFSc
- 2) Click on “Continue as guest”.
- 3) Enter the serial of your device.
- 4) Select the country from the drop-down.
- 5) Click on “Show Options”.
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
If it copies correctly then perform these steps to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these steps:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2l9gW84 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2o3acvH
- Perform steps 2 and 3 to remove the printer and re-add it. This should do the trick for you. There is an associated YouTube video on how to do it.
- Please check this link: https://hp.care/2FKAR6l (HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows) as it gives information on all your printer settings. Check these settings:
- Color and black & white settings.
This should do the trick for you.
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
