My printer says the cartridges I installed are continuous supply cartridges. They are not and I have replaced the cartridges twice.

Hi @RayW1006 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer is displaying an error message stating "There is a problem with the supply system" and incorrectly identifying the cartridges as continuous supply cartridges, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Open the printer cover, remove the cartridges, and then reinsert them firmly into their respective slots.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: The contacts on the cartridges and within the printer might accumulate dust or debris over time, causing poor connectivity. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer. Firmware updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve various issues. You can usually check for updates through the printer's control panel menu or by visiting the HP support website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset Printer: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can often resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's user manual or visit the HP support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
