Hello, hoping someone can help me here. I have an HP Envy 7640 printer on an Ethernet network at my home. We no longer use Windows, but all of our units are Chromebook notebooks and 1 Chromebox. For years we had no trouble sending printouts to the printer from any of the Chromebooks, but just the last few days only the Chromebox, which is right next to the printer is able to successfully print. When I try to send something the the printer from any other Chromebook, I have to search for the printer on the network, which DOES appear, but when I click on that device on my Chromebook to choose it, it says 'Setting up printer', but then the message turns red and says 'failed to set up printer'. We do not use WIFI, but have a hardwired ethernet. I tried turning off the router where all the cables are plugged in and turning it back on to hopefully reset it, but that did not solve this problem. I downloaded the troubleshooter software from HP, but it will not install on a Chromebook. Our WIFI is turned off , btw. Just ethernet. Hoping someone can help.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to print from the Chromebooks in the network.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Is the printer added in all the Chromebooks?
I recommend you remove and add the printer as a network printer and check if it helps. Refer to the below article for detailed steps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
