HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe Printer

My HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe keeps beeping. Stops periodically when printed and then starts beeping again. My toner is new. The printer is plugged directly into the wall. Same outlet I've used for years. I have attempted to reset with no change. Any other thoughts of what I can try other than throwing it out the window?

Hi @PortNeuro,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Continuous beeping from your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe can be quite frustrating. Here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and resolve the issue:

1. Check for Error Messages or Indicators:

  • Look at the printer’s control panel for any error messages or warning lights that can provide clues about the cause of the beeping.

2. Check Printer Status in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device and check the printer status. The app may provide more detailed information about the issue.

3. Ensure Proper Installation of Toner:

  • Turn off the printer and remove the toner cartridge. Reinstall it carefully, ensuring it is seated properly.
    • Make sure there are no pieces of packaging or debris inside the printer that might be causing an issue.

4. Paper Jam or Misfeed

  • Open all printer access doors and inspect for any paper jams or misfeeds.Remove any stuck paper carefully and ensure the paper tray is properly loaded.

5. Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables (power and USB/Ethernet) are securely connected.Try a different power outlet to rule out issues with the current one.

6. Update Firmwar:

  • Go to the printer’s control panel and navigate to the Settings menu.Look for an option to check for firmware updates and install any available updates.

7. Perform a Factory Reset:

  • Go to the Settings menu on the printer’s control panel.Look for a Reset or Restore Factory Settings option and follow the prompts to reset the printer.

8. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP support website.Follow the tool’s instructions to diagnose and fix any issues.

9. Check for External Interference:

  • Make sure the printer is not near devices that could cause electromagnetic interference, such as microwaves or cordless phones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

While you indicate that you have the printer connected directly to the wall, is it possible you have a UPS plugged into the circuit and the printer is draining enough power to trigger the UPS onto battery? Most HP printers do not have any sort of noise generation device other than the speaker on the modem so it is unlikely that the printer itself is making the noise, unless there is some sort of electrical short inside, but I would not expect that to generate a definite beep.
