I turned my HP OfficeJet 4650 off at the power button because I was having problems with "Spooler" problems and not printing. I've checked all the plugs and they all are okay. This printer was originally used on Windows 7 and now I'm using Windows 11. I'm 81 yrs old and the tech info is usually difficult for me to understand. I really need to be printing some items and need help[, PLEASE!

@obindy,Welcome to HP Support Community 😀,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
First off, thank you so much for reaching out, and I totally understand how frustrating tech issues can be 😅, especially when things change with updates like Windows 11. I’m here to help, so let’s take this one step at a time. We’ll get that printer working again, no worries!
It sounds like you’ve already done a great job checking the plugs, and I’m happy to guide you through some steps to troubleshoot the issue. Let's try to get things up and running again so you can get back to printing what you need.
Restart the Print Spooler Service
The "Spooler" error usually happens when the print spooler service gets stuck. Let’s try restarting it:
- Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" dialog box.
- Type in services.msc and press Enter.
- In the "Services" window, scroll down and find Print Spooler.
- Right-click on it and select Restart.
- Once it’s done, try printing again.
Clear the Print Queue
Sometimes, a stuck print job in the queue can cause issues:
- Go to the Start Menu and type Printers & Scanners.
- Find your HP OfficeJet 4650 and click on it.
- Select Open Queue.
- If there are any print jobs listed, cancel them by right-clicking and choosing Cancel.
- After that, try printing again.
Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver
Since you’re using Windows 11 now, the printer drivers from Windows 7 might not be fully compatible:
- Go to Start Menu > Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Find your HP OfficeJet 4650, click on it, and select Remove Device.
- After that, go to the HP Support Website and search for HP OfficeJet 4650 drivers for Windows 11.
- Download and install the latest drivers.
- Once installed, add the printer back by going to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a Printer or Scanner.
Check the Printer’s Connection
Even though the plugs seem okay, it’s worth double-checking the connection:
- If you're using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
- If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure that both your computer and printer are connected to the same network. You can also try restarting your router just in case the connection has been interrupted.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter
Windows has a built-in tool that might help:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Find Printer in the list and click Run.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to see if Windows can detect and fix any issues with your printer.
Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, Windows 11 updates can resolve underlying compatibility issues:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
- Install any available updates and restart your computer if needed.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
