Hi @dickyprint,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering a printhead problem with an HP Officejet 8012 printer displaying event code 62.80.30, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the printhead carriage's movement. Open the printer cover and inspect the printhead area for any debris or foreign objects that may be hindering its operation.
  • Inspect Printhead Contacts: Turn off the printer and open the printhead access door. Carefully remove the printhead and inspect the contacts for any visible damage or debris. Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water if necessary.
  • Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer to its factory defaults can sometimes help resolve software-related issues. Refer to the printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's control panel or by downloading the latest firmware from HP's official website and following the instructions for installation.
  • Replace Printhead: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the printhead itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

Thank you for your comprehensive reply, really appreciated.  Sadly problem persists and so I can only conclude that the printhead itself is faulty / has failed - which is an expensive remedy.  But was worth trying all other options.

Cheers
