HP OFFICE JET PRO 6978

I have had my printer for 2 years and about 2 months ago when I would print out anything that had color the colors would have streaks through them. Also, say I was printing some in purple the colors that would print out would be streaks of purple and pink. I have cleaned the print head over 20 times and I get my ink from HP on-line and that has been changed 3 times. Nothing is working and I don't want to throw my printer away because I really like it. Is there anything you can suggest or tell me to do so I don't have to throw this one away and go buy a new one? Thank you!

Greetings and Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you -

1) Are you enrolled in the Instant Ink program?

2) Are you experiencing this issue while making a copy as well?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

Step 1 Clean the Printhead -

1) From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.
2) Open the Printer Maintenance menu.
3) If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

Step 2 Align the Printhead -

1) Load plain white paper in the input tray.
2) From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.
3) Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.
4) Touch Align Printhead.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for steps - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it. Click here for more details on how to access the private messages on HP Forums.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.
