HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer won't print because of "problem with my account".  Looking at my account the only issue I see is that the warrenty has expired.  I do not have (nor have need of) an instant ink account.  Do I really need to pay for things I don't require just to use the printer?

Hi @Michar1954,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with printing on your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I tried your reset function first.  No change.  Firmware is reported as most current and factory reset had no effect.  I still get the error message regarding an account setup error.  No idea what's going on.

Hi @Michar1954,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is showing an account setup error, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Verify Account Status:

  • Ensure your HP account is active and properly logged in. You can check your account status by visiting the HP Smart website or app.

Reauthenticate HP Account:

  • Open the HP Smart app or visit the HP Smart website.
  • Remove the printer from your account and then add it back. This can help resolve any authentication issues.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and ensure it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Update Printer Software:

  • Even if your firmware is up-to-date, ensure that the HP Smart app or any related printer software is also up-to-date.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Sometimes, reconfiguring network settings or reconnecting the printer to Wi-Fi can resolve connectivity issues.

Clear Printer Queue:

  • Check if there are any pending print jobs in the queue and clear them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

So in going into the HP Smart ap, I go to print a status report on the printer an get the following message

Michar1954_0-1725997320913.png

We received this printer from my wife's sister and she has said it has been removed from her account.  How do I clear this?

Hi @Michar1954,

Thank you for your response,

To clear the Instant Ink enrollment issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer, you will need to remove the printer from the previous Instant Ink account and reset the printer. Here's how you can address the issue.

Steps to Resolve Instant Ink Enrollment Issue:

Contact the Previous Owner (Your Wife's Sister):

  • Ask her to log in to her HP Instant Ink account and ensure the printer is completely removed from her account.
  • She can do this by:
    • Logging in to the HP Instant Ink portal.
    • Going to the Devices section.
    • Selecting the printer and removing it from her account.

Check HP Account Transfer:

  • Sometimes it may take some time for the printer to disassociate from the previous Instant Ink account. Once the previous account is confirmed to be cleared, try printing again.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset to clear any settings or previous association with the old account. To factory reset the printer:
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Press and hold the Cancel and WiFi buttons together.
    3. While holding them, turn on the printer.
    4. Release the buttons once the printer powers on and you see a reset screen.
  • This will restore the printer to its default settings.

Re-Enroll in Instant Ink (If Needed):

  • After resetting, you can create your own HP Instant Ink account or continue without Instant Ink. If you want to enroll in Instant Ink:
    1. Go to the HP Instant Ink website.
    2. Create an account and enroll the printer under your own name.

Use Non-Instant Ink Cartridges:

  • If you don't want to use Instant Ink, you can purchase regular HP cartridges and install them. Instant Ink cartridges will not work without an active subscription.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
