My HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer is stuck on validating after replacing the black cartridge. After days of this it’ll show a blue screen with D818B828. I have already tried unplugging and everything else. Please help as I need this to work  and it’s been weeks of this!

Hi @TexasLady7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer is stuck on "validating" after replacing the black cartridge, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Wait Patiently: Sometimes, the printer can take a few minutes to validate the new cartridge. It's possible that it's just performing an extended validation process. Give it some time, and see if it eventually completes the validation.
  • Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or codes on the printer's display screen. This can provide clues about what might be causing the issue.
  • Ensure Proper Installation: Make sure the black cartridge is installed correctly. Open the printer cover, remove the cartridge, and then reinsert it, making sure it clicks securely into place.
  • Check for Protective Tape: Sometimes, new cartridges come with protective tape or seals that need to be removed before installation. Ensure that any protective coverings on the cartridge have been removed.
  • Update Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with cartridge recognition. Visit the HP website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. If there are, follow the instructions to update the firmware.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve minor issues.
  • Clean Contacts: If the printer still doesn't recognize the cartridge, remove it again and clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Ensure they are dry before reinstalling the cartridge.
  • Try a Different Cartridge: If you have access to another black cartridge, try installing it to see if the issue is with the cartridge itself. If the new cartridge is recognized, the original one may be faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
