This error message may indicate that you have to perform a semi-full reset on your printer.
@sandytechy20 mentioned as much in previous discussion threads, such as here: My printer is frozen and flashing the code B87668C2. What do... - HP Support Community - 8437174.
@A_Gayathri provided the following reset suggestion in this link: Officejet Pro 8035e printer flashing code B87668C2. What doe... - HP Support Community - 8722415, start quote:
"Try the below suggestions:
Reset the product
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Update the printer firmware:
- Click on: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-9010e-all-in-one-printer-series/38... to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product.
- Click on: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16 to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer." -end quote.
If the aforementioned power reset didn't work, I found the following "cold reset" procedure on p. 183 "Restore original factory defaults and settings" in the manual (see: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06940372.pdf) :
Disclaimer: performing any kind of "reset" may result in complications or even "bricking" the device. If you are not comfortable performing said resets, reaching out to a professional technician is the best course of action.
Hope this was helpful.
