The printer will not print from my computer. I am trying to print an excel spreadsheet. I get the error - "Unable to print. Sign in to use remote printers". Until recently I have been using the printer normally.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Connectivity

Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. Verify the wireless connection and ensure that the printer is turned on.

Sign In to HP Smart

The error suggests that you need to sign in to the HP Smart app to use remote printing features. Follow these steps:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • If you are not already signed in, sign in using your HP account credentials.
  • If you do not have an account, you can create one easily within the app.

Verify HP Smart Account

Ensure your HP Smart account is properly configured and that the printer is added to your HP Smart account for remote printing.

Printer Status

Check the printer status and ensure that it is online and ready:

  • Go to the Devices and Printers section in Windows.
  • Right-click on your HP Smart Tank Plus 555 printer and select "See what's printing".
  • Ensure the printer is online and not set to "Use Printer Offline".

Update Printer Drivers and Software

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer:

  • Download any updates for HP Smart and the printer drivers from the HP Smart app on the Microsoft Store.

Restart Devices

Sometimes, simply restarting your computer and printer can resolve connectivity issues.

Troubleshooting Wireless Connection

If the printer and computer are connected via a wireless network, ensure the following:

  • Move the printer closer to the Wi-Fi router.
  • Ensure the wireless signal is strong enough.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi settings on the printer and reconnect to the network if necessary.
