When I print documents from my Surface Pro computer, graphic elements do not print true size.  They are enlarged at least 4 times larger than the original, and the cover / block the text that is contained in the same document.  I have experienced the problem with word documents and emails (using Outlook 2016).

I do not have the problem if I print using my other (Brother brand) printer, so I believe the problem is with my HP printer rather than with my computer.

How can I get my computer and printer to work together properly?

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, there's an issue with the print settings.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you - Are you experiencing the same issue while making a copy as well?

Let's try these steps -

Step 1 HP Print and Scan Doctor -

Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor

Step 2 Re-install the printer drivers -

1) In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.

I appreciate the help.  Unfortunately, I am sorry to report that this did not work.  The print results are unchanged after completing all of the steps that you suggested.

I am attaching a photo showing two email examples of what I am seeing.  In each case I am showing what the document SHOULD look like (which I get if I save the email as a PDF file and then print the PDF) and what each ACTUALLY looks like if I print directly from the email.   I included the email from HP support showing that HP logo.  Note the HP logo only prints one quarter of an enlaged version of itself. IMG_4772.jpeg

Are there any other suggestions?

Thanks for letting me know.

Please try adding a built-in driver. Refer to this document for steps.

Keep me posted.

I followed the steps listed in the document you sent me to.  Initially the only Add a Printer option was "HP OffceJetPro 8710 (FD3F35) Printer"  Selecting that printer and clicking "next" returned an error "That didn't work.  Try adding your HP OfficeJet 8710 (FD3F35) again or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions".  Operation could notbe completed (error 0x00000002).  The system cannot find the file specified."

I did try again.  This time there were two printer options listed "DIRECT-36-HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 Printer, Ink-jet printer, Scanner, Fax" or "DIRECT 3B HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 Printer".  I selected this second option. I again got the "That didn't work..." message again.  However this time the error message was "Operationcould not be completed (error 01x0000001f).  A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I restared the computer and tried again.  The only printer listed was shown as "HPFD3F35 (HP OfficeJet Pro 8710).  AFter selecting that option and clicking "NEXT", a new printer shows up on my list of installed printers.  It is identified as "DIRECT-36-HP OfficeJet Pro 8710".  However, it is greyed out.  Mousing over the icon shows "STATUS: Driver is unavailable.  STATUS: Not Connected".

So the bottom line is... attempting to add a built-in driver also did not work.

Any other ideas (anyone)?
