macOS 12.0 Monterey

I am no longer able to initiate a scan from my printer control panel to any of my Apple computers.

This feature previously worked.

The error states - No Computer Found.

I have three Apple devices using different MacOS versions and al are functioning correctly with my WiFi network.

Has HP stopped supporting Apple connectivity?

Hi @jkp52,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with scanning from Mac OS.

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

If you are using Mac OS 12, Update the firmware. Click here

If you are using Mac OS 14.3 Install HP Easy Start

HP Easy Start is the new way to set up your HP printer and prepare your Mac for printing. HP Easy Start will locate and install the latest software for your printer and then guide you through printer setup.

Thanks for your reply.

I have downloaded and executed HP Easy Start.

I was then prompted to install HP Smart and HP Easy Scan.

During the "conversation" I encountered a screen in HP Easy Start which I was not able to get past.  There is an entry box which does not accept any value that I place in it and it appears that the installation may have not completed successfully.

Image of screen is included.

Pressing "Continue" button does nothing.

Jim P.

When I click on "Continue" nothing happens.

There is a entry box that appears but it does not have a label.

Hi @jkp52 ,

Are you able to install the HP Smart app on your PC?

If yes, what happens when you scan from there

Are you able to make a copy?

Let me know

I am able to initiate a scan from my computer, but initiating a scan from the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 no longer works.

I really liked the feature that allowed me to choose which computer I wanted to scan the document to, rather than going to the "target" computer and initiate the scan from there.

I've attached the resulting display on the printer to show the message that I receive.

Hi @jkp52,

We do not have that feature you are looking for. I am afraid that option is not available.

So ---- HP has disabled an option that used to work, correct?
