My printer will take about 30 minutes to start up when I plug it in and I will get about 5 minutes of use out of it before it starts this power cycling process where it will shut itself down for about 15 minutes and turn itself back on. It will do this cycle about 7-10 times and will eventually get stuck on the “shutdown” screen.

I’ve tried the online support and they told me to call in. Calling in yielded nothing… apparently it’s not working.

I’ve checked the firmware, tried different power sources, new ink cartridges, different USB cables, no USB cables… and there seems to be no support for this. I don’t think I’ll ever buy an HP printer ever again.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP printer is not working correctly.

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
