My Printer tells me that I have a Printer Head Problem.  I gives me a number of OXC19a0013.  I assume this is the Printer Head number.

It does not tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.  Anyone have any ideas

Hi @Toddrr

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing again to see if the error persists.

2. Check the Printhead and Ink Cartridges

The OXC19A0013 error often points to an issue with the printhead or the ink system. Follow these steps to inspect them:

a. Turn off the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.

  • Remove the ink cartridges carefully, and set them aside.

b. Check the Printhead:

  • If the printhead is accessible, carefully remove it from the printer. Check for any visible obstructions like dried ink or debris that might be blocking it.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with warm water to gently wipe the contacts on the printhead (and the ink cartridges).
  • If the printhead looks clogged, you might need to perform a cleaning process, either using the printer’s built-in cleaning function or by gently soaking the printhead in warm water for a few minutes (if it’s removable).

c. Reinstall the Ink Cartridges and Printhead:

  • Reinsert the ink cartridges into the printer, ensuring that they’re properly seated.
  • If you removed the printhead, carefully reinstall it, making sure it's in the correct position.

3. Perform a Printhead Cleaning

  • Go to Windows 11 Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 and click Manage.
  • Choose Printer Properties, then look for a Maintenance or Clean Printhead option and follow the prompts.
  • Alternatively, you can run the printhead cleaning from the printer’s onboard menu if it has a screen:
    • From the control panel, go to Setup or Tools, and select Clean Printhead or Printhead Cleaning.

This will help remove any ink buildup or dried ink that could be causing the error.

4. Check for Ink Cartridge Issues

  • Verify the ink levels: If any of the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new, genuine HP cartridges.
  • Check for damaged cartridges: Ensure that none of the ink cartridges have visible damage or leaks. If you see any issues, replace the faulty cartridge.

5. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Cancel button and Wireless button simultaneously.
  • While holding these buttons, turn the printer back on.
  • Continue holding the buttons for about 10-15 seconds until the printer resets.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Support Website and search for the latest firmware update for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968.
  • Follow the instructions to download and install any updates.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
