Hi @kmarie111,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
Reset the printer
Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the power source.
Wait 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE:
HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
Perform an alignment
Align the printheads or cartridges in your printer when you replace them, to improve print quality, or to clear an alignment error.
Make sure paper is loaded in the input tray.
Open the HP Smart app, and then click the printer image.
Click Print Quality Tools, and then select Align or Align Printheads.
If prompted by the software or printer control panel to scan the Alignment Page, follow the instructions on the page to complete the alignment.
If the alignment issue persists, continue with the steps and perform an alignment after each one.
Check your ink cartridges
Incorrectly installed ink cartridges or low ink levels can result in poor print quality or errors.
Check ink levels.
From the printer control panel: Look for an ink drop, a cartridge icon, or an Ink Levels menu.
From the HP Smart app: Open the HP Smart app. Estimated ink levels display on the Home screen.
Ink Tank, Smart Tank, DeskJet GT printers: Look at the ink tank windows on the printer. Most printers with ink tanks have a minimum fill line.
Open the ink cartridge access door, and then wait for the carraige to stop moving.
Remove each cartridge from the printer. Make sure to hold each cartridge by the sides.
Remove any protective tape that might be on the cartridges.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, an ink system failure, and a failed electrical connection.
Check for and remove any obstructions around the printer carriage.
Replace any cartridges that are low or out of ink. If you have an ink tank printer, make sure each ink tank is filled to the minimum fill line.
Reinstall the cartridges into their correct slots, and then make sure they are firmly seated.
Close the ink cartridge access door.
Click here for the remaining steps.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Make sure the alignment process is complete before using your printer.
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
Adjust the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.
Print an alignment page.
Printer control panel (printers with control panel menus): Open the Tools or Printer Maintenance menu, and then select the option to Align cartridges, Align printhead, or Print an Alignment Page.
HP Smart app (Windows 10, macOS, Android, iOS): In the app, select your printer, click Print Quality Tools, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.
HP Printer Assistant (Windows): Click Maintain Your Printer, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.
HP Utility (Mac): Click the option to align the printheads or cartridges.
HP Solution Center (Windows XP, Vista): Click Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox. On the Device Services tab, click Align the Print Cartridges to print an alignment page. If prompted on the printer control panel, software, or alignment page, scan the alignment page to complete the alignment.
If your printer has a scanner, follow the directions on the alignment page to scan it and complete the alignment.
Restart your printer or send another print job.
If the issue persists, continue to the next step.
Regards,
Diana
