@jstarks3091, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that you're experiencing slow printing issues on the printer, this could be a connectivity issue or issue with installed drivers. Let us try to isolate the issue-

How is the printer connected to the computer?

Meanwhile, follow the steps below-

Step 1: Reset the printer

Resetting the printer can resolve some types of slow printing issues.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    note:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try to print.

Step 2: Check the printer preferences

Selecting certain paper types or printing in Best quality can slow print speeds. Print with plain paper in Normal or Draft quality for faster print speeds.

  1. Search Windows for printers, and then click Printers & scanners in the list of results.

  2. Click your printer, and then click Manage.

  3. Click Printing Preferences.

  4. Click the Paper or Paper/Quality tab.

  5. In the Type or Paper Type field, make sure Plain Paper is selected.

  6. Adjust the print quality.

    • HP Inkjet and LaserJet printers:

In the Print Quality field, make sure Draft or Normal is selected.

    • HP Laser printers:

Click the Graphics tab, and then click Standard in the Quality field.

  7. Click OK or Apply to confirm the changes.

  8. Try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Print with both cartridges

Some printer models allow you to print with only one cartridge installed. Printing with only one cartridge causes slower print speed.

Make sure all cartridges are properly installed. Replace empty cartridges as necessary, and then try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 4: Reinstall the print driver

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

8). Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for the HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply.  I have all done all your suggestions to no avail.  I called my Son and he said if I was in no hurry, he would come get it, take it home and see what he can do.  I was going to trash it even though it is only four years old and I rarely use it.  Thanks again.
