dj 2600 all in one printer

Hi !

 

I have a dj 2600 all in one Hp printer that i just purchased, and it doesn't print text.

I've tried re-installing it several times, checked the cartridges and it is impossible to get it to

print text.

It prints pictures though, from every paint and color picture program without any issues at all, but as soon as there are text,either a text document or even just text below a picture in a document, the text wont print!!

Load a picture in word and write HP DOESNT WORK under it ,and it just prints the picture not the text.

Write something in a pure text program like f.i Notepad, and the paper comes out blank.

 

Help me,what is wrong!!!

Not sure.

 

I have not seen Windows 7 for a long time - what I can find indicates the printer should work using this older version of Windows.

 

Details

 

The printer Specifications (the two I models in this series that I checked) do indicate that Windows 7 is supported by the printer software.

 

Having said that, the main offering in the Windows 10 Software, Drivers and Firmware support website, that is, the "Get the App" for HP Smart is not supported on Windows 7.

 

If you have not done so, try installing the Full Driver for the printer using the HP Easy Start Printer Setup.

When / If asked, select the "full driver" software (wording may vary).

 

Reminder:  If you are running the printer using a USB cable connected between the printer and the computer, disconnect the USB cable before installing the printer software.  Connect the USB cable when instructed to to do, near the end of the installation process.

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

  • HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
  • Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

PDF - Print as Image

If the file will not print due to unusual content (odd fonts, color schemes, tables, other oddities), print the file as an Image.  Image printing does not require the printer software to translate file content.

 

Open the offending PDF file in Adobe Reader DC > File > Print > Advanced >>

  1. Set the printer select the colors (Optional)
  2. Print the PDF file as an image

Thank you for your answer,but i've already tried all of your suggestions.

 

The printer still does not print text, it prints pictures with great clarity, and all colors in the spectrum, but as soon as i use a letter it doesn't print(well if i paint a letter it prints it of course), what can the issue be?? I've tried every ''output'' in preferences also(RAW,RAW APPENDED E.T.C) Nothing seems to work,and if i run ''HP Print and scan doctor''it says everything is working and prints a test page that of course looks great,,,,but text is apparently a no,no.

Programs that prints pic's are paint, word, open office and a few more graph prog's i've tried, but none of them prints text. Even a seemingly simple program like Notepad & Wordpad just print blank pages.

Starting to get desperate.

 

Could someone please help???

OK, at least we know what you have tried.

 

The printer software is able to translate (into printer language) certain types of content.  This includes general fonts used in documents in that printer's language.  In the case of your Inkjet printer, I believe the printer understands True-Type fonts.  Make sure the fonts on the documents are within the general population of True-type fonts.

 

If you have not done so,

  • Uninstall the all the printer software from Programs and Features
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • Next, download-save-install the printer software. 

 

 Will that work?  Unknown but it certainly deserves a try.

 

Reminder for those reading who are also using Windows 7:

Windows 7 is not supported by the HP Smart Application (first offered software on the Software and Drivers page)

Instead install the Print and Scan Driver software found in Category Software-Utility 

HP DeskJet / Ink Advantage 2600/2675/2676/2677/2678 Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

 

 

A bigger problem:

If the printer cannot print text portions of a PDF document when that PDF document is printed as an image, then the problem is deeper than the printer not being able to translate any text.  Image printing does not require translation of the text portion of the document into printer language.

 

  1. Check the printer region.
  2. Complete the printer Reset (unplug while switched on for 60 seconds - plug in - start)
  3. Print a diagnostic sheet from the printer and check the results.

 

If you have not already done so, you have to option to

  1. Return the printer and thereby immediately reduce the stress and fury - if the printer itself is at fault, replacing it will solve the problem.
  2. Contact HP Tech Support - Submit your case online to be given local contact options in your area.  Know that the process to actually get to an agent can be mind-numbing.  The response centers are overwhelmed and the wait to speak with an agent can be long.

Use caution when dealing with any website that asks you to pay for HP driver downloads or tools that claim to diagnose your HP products. These websites might not be affiliated with HP in any way.

 

Do not install BIOS updates from a motherboard manufacturer's website. Only install BIOS updates from HP. Installing BIOS updates from the motherboard manufacturer can prevent the computer from accepting an HP system recovery. This could result in a loss of data.

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)

Thank you for taking the time to try and solve this!!

 

I can't comprehend what the problem is, i've tried installing,re-installing,changed cartridges,cleaned cartridges,resetting ,well everything at least ten times,but the problem persists. The most annoying about it is that if i print ''a test page'' with scan doctor everything comes out o.k,as if there was no prob'm at all.

Can you tell me which printer software you have installed?

Find the printer software listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

(Apologies if the path is different - it has been a long time since I have seen Windows 7)

 

Provide printer Name and version, please.

For example, the name should include the name of the printer as part of the name

The version is likely found in the last column for that entry.

What was the result of the Diagnostic test?  I missed it if you already answered that question.

That you cannot print text even when that text has been printed as an image  (PDF as image) - no requirement for the printer to translate or read the content - seems to indicate that something else is fundamentally wrong with the printer or the setup.

 

I cannot get around that one.

New Printer itself is under warranty.  Printer function using Windows 7 is unsupported - the newly purchased printer is guaranteed to function and pass the diagnostics. 

 

Given that the ink, region, and basic setup (physical installation) are correct, there are certain tasks the printer should be able to pass, including printing the self-test pages.

 

What did HP Tech Support say?

Did they offer help / replacement?
