@Feline77,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

If your HP laser printer is saving the print job instead of printing it, it's possible that there might be an issue with the printer settings or the printer driver. You can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

  1. Check printer connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your new Tower. Make sure the USB or Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.

  2. Set the printer as default: Confirm that your HP printer is set as the default printer on your computer. Here's how you can check:

    • On Windows: Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers." Look for your HP printer, right-click on it, and select "Set as default printer."
    • On macOS: Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners." Select your HP printer from the list on the left, and click the "Set default printer" button (a checkmark icon).
  3. Update printer drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause printing issues. Visit: Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Customer Support, and download the latest drivers specifically designed for your printer model and your new Tower's operating system. Install the drivers and follow any on-screen instructions.

  4. Clear print queue: There might be a stuck print job in the print queue, causing subsequent print jobs to save rather than print. To clear the print queue:

    • On Windows: Open "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers." Right-click on your HP printer and select "See what's printing." In the print queue window, click on "Printer" in the top menu and select "Cancel All Documents." Confirm the action if prompted.
    • On macOS: Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners." Select your HP printer from the list on the left, click on the "Open Print Queue" button, and cancel any pending print jobs.
  5. Test with a different application: Try printing from a different application or software program to see if the issue is specific to a particular program. If the printer works fine with other applications, it could indicate a problem with the original application's settings.

  6. Reset printer settings: Resetting the printer settings to their default values can help resolve any misconfigurations. Refer to your printer's user manual or the HP support website (see: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Customer Supp...) for instructions on how to perform a factory reset or restore default settings.

If you've tried all of the above steps and the issue persists, please let me know.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

If your HP printer is going to "Save Print" instead of printing, it is likely a setting or configuration issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check Print Queue: Open the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. If there are, try deleting them and then resend the print job to see if it prints correctly.

Check Print Settings: Verify that the print settings are configured correctly. Open the document or file you want to print and go to the print settings. Ensure that the correct printer is selected and that the desired print options (such as paper size, orientation, quality, etc.) are properly set.

Check Printer Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you are using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer. If you are using a network connection, check the network settings and ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

If your printer is going to "Save Print" instead of printing, it could indicate that the printer settings or printer driver settings are misconfigured. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Print Settings: When you initiate the print command, ensure that you have selected the correct printer and that the print settings are configured appropriately. Open the print dialog box and verify the print settings such as paper size, orientation, quality, and color options. Make sure they match your desired printing preferences.

Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the print queue, causing subsequent print jobs to be saved instead of printing. Open the print queue on your computer and clear any pending print jobs. Try printing again to see if it resolves the issue.

Restart Printer and Computer: Turn off your printer and computer. Unplug the printer from the power source and disconnect it from the computer. Wait for a few minutes, then reconnect the printer to power and reconnect it to the computer. Turn on both devices and try printing again.
