Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If you insert your old black ink cartridge, do you get any error message?

Clean the ink cartridges:

  1. Load plain, white paper into the input tray.

  2. Press Setup.

  3. Select Tools, and then select Clean Cartridge.

Align the ink cartridges:

For best print quality, align the ink cartridges.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. Press the Setup icon  on the printer control panel.

  3. Select Tools, and then select Align Cartridge.

The printer prints an ink cartridge alignment sheet.

  4. Place the alignment sheet face down on the right-front corner of the scanner glass.

If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4500-all-in-one-printer-series-g510/3919445/model/...
