Hi @Shrein26,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer reports a paper jam but no paper is visible, it could be caused by a sensor issue or a small piece of debris lodged in the mechanism. Here's how to resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 2-3 minutes to allow the internal components to reset.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Inspect Paper Path Thoroughly:

  • Open all accessible areas, including:
    • Input and output trays.
    • Rear access panel (or duplexer, if applicable).
    • Under the scanner lid and around the carriage area.
  • Use a flashlight to check for any small scraps of paper, debris, or foreign objects.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Gently clean the rollers in the input and output tray areas.
  • Rotate the rollers manually to ensure thorough cleaning.

Check the Carriage Path:

  • Open the printer cover and ensure the carriage (the part holding the ink cartridges) moves freely.
  • If the carriage is stuck, gently push it to the center and check for obstructions.

Reset the Printer:

  • After cleaning, perform a reset by:
    • Turning off the printer.
    • Holding the power button for 30 seconds.
    • Turning it back on.

Inspect the Sensors:

  • A faulty or dirty paper sensor may falsely indicate a jam. Use compressed air to clean the interior, focusing on areas near the rollers and paper path.

Perform a Printer Test:

  • Print a test page to see if the error persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Have tried all the listed resets.  NO change in status.  Throwing away another HP printer because of crappy software and support.  Will not buy another HP product again.
