Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer, pretty much since the beginning, has been shutting off randomly during print jobs, but occasionally it will just turn off when not in use (and I don't mean it goes into sleep mode).  When it powers off, it will go through this cycle endlessly until I unplug the printer.  By that, I mean it will power down, and then power back up with a message that the printer was not shut down properly, and before I can clear that message, it powers down again, and repeats this cycle endlessly.  It is to the point now that I can't even use the printer.  It is not the power outlet, as I have a power strip plugged into this outlet and no other electronics are affected (at the moment, only a cordless phone is plugged into the same strip as the printer).  I have also tried plugging the printer into completely different outlets.  Please help.

Welcome to the HP Support Community

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing the same issue while making a copy?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321/document/c0...

Restart the printer.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
