Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

In August, I updated my Internet Security and Anti-Malware programs.

I have plenty of HP ink.

The Print head health is Good.

Print Quality Report was incomplete:  1st section missing, Test Pattern 2 had no black ink at all, Test Pattern 3 missing.

Cleaned print heads to 3rd level.

Alignment failed,

Calibration Linefeed failed.

Appreciate help.

Hi @HAK4,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding assistance with print quality. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂 Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after a power outage or surge?
  • Did you replace cartridges and check again?

For now please perform these steps:

  • Perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2y7MD6w to fix print quality issues. This should fix the issue if there are no hardware issues with the printer.
  • I also understand that you’ve already tried all these steps going by your post and your profound technical wisdom.
  • If the problem continues, contact HP phone support to get either the printer or the cartridges replaced as one of them is faulty.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

  • Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
  • Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
  • Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Thank you David SMP for your suggestions. We could not find "Get Phone No" when we followed your instructions.

On Saturday, 23 Sept., we installed a new BLACK ink cartridge,

the Self Test Diagnostic Page was printed entirely in PINK,

the Print Quality Report was worse than before:  1) No Printer Information, 2) Test Pattern 1 was incomplete,  3) Test Pattern 2 had no Black/Gray, 4) there was no Cyan, 5)  No Test Pattern 3

We tried to print a document in black only - the page came out blank.

It seems that the Black ink is not getting to the printhead.

In the Section  headed Printhead Status:

Non HP supply:

Detected in printhead? Black Yes/ Yellow No

Detected in printer?      Black Yes/ Yellow

Since we installed ALL HP INK CARTRIDGES in July, we have used the printer only to get it functioning as nothing else would print; consequently, my ink levels are about half empty.  The three colours cost $97.99 + Tax = $113.66, the BLACK cost $61.89 + 9.26 = $71.15.  My other half wants to ditch our HP Printer altogether; as environmentalists, we find that difficult.

My other half wants to ditch our HP Printer altogether, I daresay it would be never to return to HP; as environmentalists, we find that difficult.  Almost ready to give up!  Thanks.
