I have an HP 4100 printer and it was printing labels out just fine from Amazon and all the sudden it just quit doing it. And when I try to print it by downloading the image and printing it, it makes it too large. But I don't have any way to control the size like choosing print actual size

Hi @Rk1610

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how inconvenient it feels when a printer suddenly stops handling labels the way it used to, especially when you rely on it for tasks like Amazon shipments. Thank you for already trying to print by downloading the image—that effort helps narrow down the situation.

Let’s go through some steps that can help restore proper label printing and ensure the size comes out correctly.

Step 1: Use the HP App for Printing

  • Open the HP App on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Select Print Documents or Photos.
  • When choosing the Amazon label file, check the Print Settings window.
  • Look for the option Fit to Page or Actual Size. If “Fit to Page” is selected, labels may enlarge. Switch to Actual Size.

Step 2: Print Directly from PDF

  • Instead of saving the label as an image, download it as a PDF from Amazon.
  • Open the PDF in Microsoft Edge or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • In the print dialog, select Actual Size or 100% scale.
  • This prevents the label from stretching.

Step 3: Adjust Printer Preferences

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP 4100 printer and choose Printing Preferences.
  3. Under the Layout or Scaling section, ensure scaling is set to 100%.
  4. Save changes and retry printing.

Step 4: Test with a Sample Label

  • Create a simple test document with a smaller image or barcode.
  • Print it using the same settings to confirm scaling works correctly.

Step 5: Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your printer model (HP 4100) and install the latest drivers or firmware.
  • Updated drivers often restore missing print options like “Actual Size.”

Your persistence in troubleshooting is appreciated—it shows great attention to detail. Once you try printing labels as PDF with “Actual Size,” the output should match the intended dimensions.
