My printer keeps Flashing lights and it’s not printing anything I don’t know how to stop it. I don’t know if the ink is the issue or is it just the printer itself is messed up.

Hi @AH142,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is encountering an error, and the flashing lights may be signaling a problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check the Error Code:

  • Flashing lights often correspond to a specific error code. Look at the pattern of the flashing lights (e.g., how many times the light flashes in a certain pattern) and refer to your printer's manual or the HP website to identify the issue.

Check Ink Levels:

  • If the printer isn’t printing, it could be due to low or empty ink cartridges. Check the ink levels on your printer's display screen (if it has one) or through the HP Smart app if it's connected to your network.

Printer Reset:

  • Sometimes resetting the printer can clear minor glitches:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
    3. Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
    4. Check if the lights stop flashing and if it starts printing.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Even if there's no visible jam, ensure that there are no small pieces of paper stuck in the printer’s paper feed path.

Check the Print Queue:

  • Make sure there are no stuck print jobs in the queue on your computer:
    • Open the Devices and Printers window on your computer, right-click your printer, and select See what's printing.
    • Cancel any stuck or queued print jobs and try printing again.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Sometimes, corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers to ensure everything is set up correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
