The troubleshooting steps in the document I referenced above did suggest exactly that (but only one minute needed). I am glad your issue is solved.
Step 5: Reset the printer
- Remove any items from the scanner glass and automatic document feeder (ADF), then close the scanner lid.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.

Please read this post then provide some details. What scanner model? What operating system?

I am using a HP deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 on Mac OS (macOS Sierra). I used to scan documents without any problem but I started experiencing this issue since yesterday. Do you know what I can do about this?

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve the lines in scanning on your Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545. Go through the steps in order, be sure to reset the printer as shown in step five if the issue has not been resolved.
[Edit - you might also take a look at this document if the above does not resolve the issue. It is for a different version of Mac OS, but it may apply.]

Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for helping me out. However, I was able to recover my scanner back to normal by unplugging the power cord while the printer was switched on and then plugging it back into the main power after 10 minutes. I think my printer resetted itself this way. (I'm not sure what happened)
I saw that other people had simillar issues as me and had used this method. (found them on this forum) If I do get this issue another time I will try your way and see if it works.
Once again, thank you for your support! 🙂
Have a nice day!
