Bought a laptop without a CD Rom and connected it to my HP Deskjet 6540. Windows loaded the drivers correctly.
However, to access it wirelessly I apparently need information from the installation CD which I cannot use on this laptop.
I do NOT need the drivers but the information to make a wireless connection. Can someone walk me through making the wireless work, or provide a link where I can download the information from the installation CD?
Thank you for your time.

Hi,
A Full Feature Driver & Software is not available for Windows 7, therefore a CD won't be applicable.
The HP Deskjet 6540 does not include wireless connectivity by default, only an optional wireless print server, as listed by its specifications below:

To get a better understanding of any possible steps, do you have such an external print server for your printer? were you used the printer wirelessly in the past?
If so, do you have the HP Jetdirect ew2400 or the HP Jetdirect 380x wireless print server?

No to both questions. My former computer was an old desktop and I had the printer connected via USB cord. Based on your information, I guess I will do the same for this one.
Thank you!
