Hello everyone

From past few months, every time I install updates on my Windows 10 laptop, my HP 2600 Desktop Series  printer stops working.  I have been calling some neighbours and friends every time it happens and they somehow manage to fix it, thought it takes them a very long time to do it - they do trial and error.  Now even they are reluctant to assist, because it has been happening so many times.

I am not techy - Can anyone explain to me in simple steps, the easiest way how I can get my printer working again?  And how do I avoid this from happening when updates are installed.

I did try the diagnose and fix feature on HP  Smart, but it came back stating everything is fine and nothing needs to be fixed, but my printer doesn't get the information passed on to it from the laptop.

Many thanks

HP recommended viewing a similar complaint and I found the below answer:

"After lots of research, the problem had nothing to do with the drivers or the program. Windows update has messed up with the virtual ports the pc is using for the wireless printers. You have to manually change the port that the pc is using, you have to make it an IP type (not wsd) and specify the IP address of the wireless printer."

Can someone please tell me how exactly to do this?  Screenshots would be perfect to show me where to do what? Otherwise just written steps may help too.

Thanks.
