Hi all.
I would be really grateful of your help if possible. I have tried to research this and tried all the thread solutions I can find but still it won't work!
What I would like is to be able to scan a page on my printer and then it goes automatically into a network folder so I don't have to mess around with USB sticks each time.
So my printer is wireless and operates on the same network as my laptop. I have set up a shared folder on my desktop and made it so that it's read/write by everyone. I have then gone into the settings on the IP address of the printer - under the HP settings and set up the network folder but for some reason keep getting the message 'Invalid Shared Folder'.
I have followed the advice on a number of threads but it won't work!
Presently the format of the folder is:
\\192.168.1.67\Users\timculverhouse\Scans
Where the IP address is that of my laptop and the Scans folder is a shared folder with read/write access.
Can anyone offer me any help at all or what settings I should be checking to ensure it works?
Thank you in advance
Tim

Hello, @timculverhouse – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.
I see that you are facing issues while trying to scan to the network folder. Appreciate all your efforts so far. I have seen at times that the issue is fixed by assigning a manual google DNS address for the printer. Follow the steps below:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
- Restart the printer and the router and then try to setup the scan to network folder again.
Alternatively, check this YouTube video for clear instructions on setting up your printer for scan to network folder: http://hp.care/2dzoNvJ (The video is for a LaserJet printer, but the steps / idea is similar)
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Hi Dvortex
Thanks for this... i know it's been some time since you replied but I've not had a chance to get this working and I tried your response but as it didn't work I just parked it.
Well network scanning is now back on the agenda and I'm getting frustrated with myself as to why I cannot get this working, it seems like all the ingredients are there but I don't have the right recipe!
One of my concerns is mucking up the printer so that it doesn't then print for either me or my wife or even Airprint from our iPads and iPhones all in the persuit of some network scanning which is used infrequently. However, I'm just starting to find that I need to network scan more often and having this not working seems daft when the printer has the setting.
Is there any further information I can provide that I haven't already put.
I know my computer's IP address
I have put my shared folder on the desktop of my computer
I know my printer's IP address
Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated at this stage.
Thanks
Tim
