Just installed a brand new black 337 cartridge (expiry Jan 2021). Printer fails the alignment setup and black ink doesn't print. When checked the ink levels of both Colour and Black now show full. Having checked the black cartridge the supply plate looks dry.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Black Not Printing" issue.
To better assist you -
1) Does the black and white copy works?
2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?
While you respond to that, let's print a Self Test Report -

Load the paper tray with unused plain white paper.
-
Press Setup. The Setup menu displays.

Press the down arrow
or the up arrow
to highlight Print Report, then press OK.

Press OK again. The self-test report prints.
Post the Self Test Report here, so we can help you further.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
