Can’t complete my hp inkjet printer installation because the printer screen states I have to enable cookies.  Does it mean I have to enable cookies for just hp?  It doesn’t say if it is just for hp or for all websites.  I don’t know how to enable cookies period.  How do I do that please?

Hi @M-P-M_9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Enabling cookies is a browser setting, and it's usually done to allow websites to store data, which can be necessary for completing tasks like printer installations. Here’s how you can enable cookies in popular browsers.

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll down and click on Privacy and security.
  4. Click on Cookies and other site data.
  5. Select Allow all cookies.

For Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox and click on the three lines in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Privacy & Security from the left-hand menu.
  4. Under Cookies and Site Data, choose Standard or Custom and make sure Cookies are allowed.

For Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge and click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Privacy, search, and services.
  4. Under Cookies and other site data, choose Allow all cookies.

For Safari (Mac):

  1. Open Safari and go to Safari in the menu bar, then choose Preferences.
  2. Go to the Privacy tab.
  3. Uncheck Block all cookies or select Allow from websites I visit.

For HP Printer Installation:

If the printer's installation process is asking for cookies, it generally means that you need to enable cookies for that particular browser you’re using to complete the setup. If you’re still having trouble after enabling cookies, try restarting the installation process or refreshing the browser page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
