Deskjet 2632
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I printed some shipping labels tonight, the second to last one had white lines through, the last one just had a bit of black and was unreadable. I changed the black ink cartridge, genuine black 304 cartridge, dated 2021. It recognised a new cartridge but the test page that printed had white lines through the black bits and didn't print some black bits at all. The colour was mostly good but it is low. I put the test page into the scanner part as instructed, pressed the black scan button, it printed a few bits of colour but not much and no black. I did it again, the same happened, the 3rd time nothing, just plain paper. I tried to print my label, at first it printed some streaky black lines, then it came through blank. I tried a different browser and printed, it printed it faint in blue. I clicked black only and tried again, it came out blank. At some point through trying I took the cartridge out and back in again. I also did the cleaning cartidges through my computer, it did one clean and came out with a bit of faint colour and no black, it did a deeper clean and the same happened.

I have another black I can try but didn't want to open it yet in case that is not the issue. The colour is showing low but not a warning (if you get a warning? my black didn't warn me). I don't have a spare colour but will try to get one. Could that be the issue? Does it need to have colour to work the black as well?

Any help would be great, thankyou!

@Caz1231, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

This model printer supports printing in single-cartridge mode. You can remove the color ink cartridge and continue printing in black only.

This seems like an issue with the black ink cartridge or the printer itself. To conclude the issue, you will have to try with a new black ink cartridge. If the issue persists, it is the printer that is defective and needs to be replaced.

If it prints fine, the issue could be with the previous black ink cartridge.

You may reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer or for a replacement black ink cartridge.
