I have done all of the resets and purchased new unused ink cartidges. The chatbot is of no help. My printer continues to say that new cartidges must be installed, which they are. I know it is an issue within the printewr software and I know there must be a fix out there. I had to go buy a new printer for the office just to function! Please help.

@teaeepea, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue with the printer not recognizing new ink cartridges:

Double-check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. You should hear a click when they are securely in place. Refer to your printer's manual for guidance, if necessary.

Inspect Cartridges: Examine the cartridges for any protective tape that might not have been removed. Also, inspect the electrical contacts for damage or dirt.

Reset the Printer: Even though you've tried resets, let's make sure we're doing a full reset:

  • Remove all cartridges from the printer.
  • Unplug the printer while it is powered on.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on. Reinsert the cartridges after the printer fully powers up.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Perform a Hardware Check: Inspect the ink cartridge contacts inside the printer and the cartridges themselves. Cleaning with a lint-free cloth can help if there's any residue on them.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

HI,

I followed all of the steps and now my printer is stuck. It will not connect to the internet and I cannot get a settings menu up. It appears stuck on the screen in the attached clip. Note the signal for internet is blinking. clip of HP printer screen.jpg
