I recently had to replace the print heads of GT 5820 ink tank printer. I have done this a few times before so I am quite sure what the procedure is. However, this time the Priming process did not start. Alignment process completed but Priming process didi not start which has left empty ink tubes. How can I start the Priming process manually to avoid ruining brand new set of printheads.

Hi @Pkvalkyrie,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the priming process didn't initiate automatically after replacing the print heads in your HP Deskjet GT 5820 ink tank printer, you may need to manually start the priming process to ensure proper ink flow and prevent damage to the new print heads. Here's how you can manually prime the printer.
- Check Ink Levels: Make sure there is sufficient ink in the ink tanks. If the ink levels are low or empty, refill them before proceeding.
- Access Printer Settings: Navigate to the printer's settings or control panel. You may need to refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions on accessing settings.
- Manual Priming Option: Look for an option or menu item related to printhead maintenance or ink system maintenance. There might be an option to manually prime the printheads or start an ink system priming process.
- Initiate Priming: Once you've located the manual priming option, select it to start the priming process. Follow any on-screen prompts or instructions provided by the printer.
- Monitor Progress: During the priming process, the printer will draw ink from the ink tanks to fill the printhead channels. Monitor the progress of the priming process to ensure it is completed successfully.
- Print a Test Page: After the priming process is complete, print a test page to verify that the printer is functioning correctly and producing quality prints.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
