Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am also having trouble like other users. My printer isn’t connecting to my network, and is printing a no filtering fail on the summary.

Things I've tried:

  • Factory reset
  • Hard reboot
  • Adding the printer MAC address to my router
  • Connecting the printer with an ethernet cord to try and update the printer firmware

Thanks for clarifying,

Please make sure your router firmware is up to date, consult its documentation to ensure it is updated.

Also, make sure the printer firmware is up to date too:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Now try reconnecting the printer and check for any difference, if the same persists be sure to clarify the printer model too.

Hi,

Please clarify your router brand and model. May it Verizon FIOS by any chance?

I have the same problem. My printer suddenly stopped printing and showed the Filter failed message.

I have a deskjet 1000 and MacOS Mojave, which I updated to Catalina last night, following the solution instructions posted in this forum.  However, when I tried to update the firmware, the link did not work, and, when it worked, HP website stated that it couldn't find the firmware.

I tried the remove and add printer in System preferences but Air print is not available as a choice, only USB. I updated my MacOS and rebooted the computer....none worked.  Our router is a central one and distant from my work desk.

Any suggestions for a fix on this?  Deskjet 1000 printer; MacOS Catalina ver 10.15.7

Thank you.
