When I print, it’s missing black ink , even though there is black ink.   I have downloaded the app but all the solutions say I need to click on the symbol of my printer and then select  ‘tools’ but I don’t have the option.   I have the options to set up printer or finalise existing set up.   I click finalise existing set up , I get the screen as per the screenshot, aNd can do no more.
the printer was given to me by a friend, second hand.

Hi @DonnaIbiza,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Deskjet 2720 printer where it's not printing black ink, even though there is ink available. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that your black ink cartridge has enough ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or through the printer's control panel.
  • Clean the Printhead: Sometimes, the printhead can become clogged, leading to print quality issues. Most printers have a built-in printhead cleaning function. You can usually find this option in the printer software on your computer. Run the printhead cleaning utility to clean the printhead.
  • Align the Printhead: Check if there is an option to align the printhead in the printer software. This helps ensure that the printhead is properly aligned, which can improve print quality.
  • Manually Clean the Printhead: If the automatic cleaning doesn't work, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. This involves removing the ink cartridges and gently cleaning the printhead with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab. Be careful not to damage the printhead.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor technical glitches.

Since you mentioned that you're having trouble accessing certain options in the printer app, it might be related to the setup or configuration. If the above steps don't resolve the issue, consider doing the following:

  • Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the existing printer software on your computer and reinstall it. Make sure to download the latest version from the official HP website.
  • Factory Reset: If the printer was given to you secondhand, it might have some settings from the previous owner. Perform a factory reset on the printer to restore it to its default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
