Hi, I'm trying to resolve my OXC4EB9343 HW_MICCI2C error, which is a slightly different code from my previous error code.

There's no stuck paper, and as usual I've already tried the unplugging/waiting 60 seconds/ removing surge protector/holding down power button 60 seconds/replugging, etc.

Does anyone know how to get past these error codes?

The printer is HP Officejet 4630 All-in-One.

Error codes kept displaying, so I bought a new printer. I will send the HP Officejet 4630 to electronic recycling.

Hi @Wareandtare

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying this out so clearly—your persistence is commendable, and you're absolutely right to dig deeper when the usual power reset steps don’t resolve the OXC4EB9343 HW_MICCI2C error on your HP OfficeJet 4630. This error typically points to a firmware-level fault or printhead communication failure, often involving the I²C bus (which handles internal device communication).

Here’s a more advanced recovery plan that goes beyond the basics:

Step-by-Step Fix for OXC4EB9343 HW_MICCI2C Error

1. Remove and Reseat Ink Cartridges

Faulty or misaligned cartridges can trigger internal communication errors.

  • Power off the printer
  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Remove both cartridges
  • Inspect for:
    • Ink leaks or debris on copper contacts
    • Bent or damaged contact pins inside the carriage
  • Gently clean contacts with a lint-free cloth
  • Reinsert cartridges firmly
  • Power on and check for changes

2. Update Firmware via USB (if accessible)

If the printer powers on briefly or is recognized by your PC:

  • Visit the HP OfficeJet 4630 Driver Page
  • Download the latest firmware update utility
  • Connect the printer via USB and run the updater
  • This may resolve internal controller faults

3. Inspect the Printhead Mechanism

If the carriage doesn’t move or makes no noise during startup:

  • Check for mechanical jams or broken gear teeth
  • Gently slide the carriage left and right to confirm mobility
  • If it’s stuck or unresponsive, the issue may be with the carriage motor or encoder strip

If the Error Persists

If none of these steps resolve the issue, the error likely stems from a failed printhead controller or main board fault, which unfortunately isn’t user-serviceable.

I know how exhausting this kind of error can be—especially when you’ve already tried everything. Let’s get your OfficeJet 4630 back to reliable operation.
