Thank you for your reply. I do however, think that HP support is pretty pathetic! Not yours as you are not officially representing HP.

paperwork and easily available support lacks clarity, especially shipped paperwork. 

I think monkeys could have produced more helpful written instructions.

Paper size is not the same as tray 1. I have setup a new printer today. 8.5x11 in tray 1 and 11x17 tray two. When printing 111x17I get Paper size is not the same as tray 1. The only way that i can get around this is to load 11x17 in bothe trays.

Ive just installed a new officejet 7740. by all means read and view the other posts but once you are familiar with all the settings what i did was (at the printer) install the latest updates (Settings/Printer Maintenance/Update the printer/Check for Printer Updates Now). Then for tray 2 set the paper size as 'Tabloid' NOT A3 (which it simply doesnt recognise). Now working and im a happy bunny.
