@Searley,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

  • Do you have the same issue while making a copy?

Let's perform the following steps:

Step 1: Power Reset

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
  • Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

Step 2: Check the Paper.

  • Make sure the paper loaded in the input tray is aligned to the paper-width guides.
  • If needed, pull out the input tray from the printer and reload the paper correctly, making sure that the paper guides are aligned correctly.
  • Load paper into the printer only when it is not printing.
  • Make sure the rear access door is securely shut.

Step 3: Align the printer

  • Load Letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  • From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
  • Touch Printer Maintenance
  • Select Align printer
  • Complete the alignment and try printing

I have the same problem. Printer was working well, but I just switched to Windows 10 Pro from Mac OS. I've followed the steps outlined, but to no avail.

I'm using Adobe Acrobat to print a PDF. Scale 100%. The printout isn't aligned in the centre of the page, which means the duplex is about 1cm out.
